About The Reid O’Leary Charitable Trust
The Reid O’Leary Charitable Trust was founded in 2021 in loving memory of Reid O'Leary, known as "Reido," to address the urgent need for mental health support among young people. Our mission is clear and vital: to prevent the heartbreak caused by youth suicide by providing education, support, and resources to promote resilience and well-being. With a commitment to this cause, the trust is dedicated to raising awareness around youth mental health issues and equipping communities to support young people effectively.
Our work begins in Hawkes Bay, New Zealand, where we aim to build a robust presence and serve as a model of effective mental health support for youth. Our vision includes expanding these efforts throughout New Zealand and, in time, reaching across the Pacific region, potentially extending worldwide.
At the heart of our work is the development and deployment of a pioneering digital tool designed to offer accessible mental health support, community connection, and mood tracking for young people. This digital resource, along with a suite of educational programs, community events, and awareness initiatives, empowers young people to access support when they need it and builds a foundation for long-term mental resilience.
In addition to our digital initiatives, we engage communities through events such as charity auctions, concerts, and "Run for Reido" group runs. These gatherings not only raise essential funds but also foster connections, spread awareness, and create a supportive network for all involved. Our educational workshops, webinars, and scholarships further support young people in understanding and managing their mental health and encourage new professionals to enter mental health fields.
The Reid O’Leary Charitable Trust is committed to making a lasting difference, providing young people with resources and support to navigate life’s challenges. By honouring Reid’s memory through a comprehensive and compassionate approach, we strive to create a world where every young person has the resources and community they need to thrive.
