Trust Ambassador: Brook Macdonald
The Reid O’Leary Charitable Trust is honoured to welcome Brook Macdonald as our official Trust Ambassador.
Brook has had a close connection with the O’Leary whānau since the passing of Reido, offering quiet support behind the scenes during incredibly tough times. When the Trust began discussing the idea of appointing an ambassador, Brook was the first name that came to mind. His drive, humility, compassion, and resilience make him the kind of role model the Trustees are proud to stand beside.
Brook is a professional downhill mountain biker, born and raised in Napier, Hawke’s Bay. Over the past 14 years, he has competed on the world stage, racing in the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup circuit across Europe and living a full summer-to-summer life. In 2019, Brook suffered a severe spinal injury that left him temporarily paralysed. Through relentless determination and focus, he not only recovered but returned to elite competition within the same year. His story is one of grit, hope, and strength.
“I’m humbled to be an ambassador for the Reid O’Leary Charitable Trust. I hope that by sharing my journey, I can help others navigate the tough times in their lives. We all go through challenges, but we can come back stronger.”
